Phillipsburg is a rural Kansas town that is balancing growing into the future with the traditions of small town living in the heartland. Located in north central Kansas, Phillipsburg has gently rolling hills, wide-open spaces and crisp clear air. Phillipsburg has a wonderful, relaxed spirit that is attractive to newcomers and visitors alike. Education, the arts and quality of life are traits that make Phillipsburg a popular home for young families, retirees and businesses.

Phillipsburg has a diverse economy with a strong agricultural base as well as manufacturing. A central location, low tax base, competitive utility rates, progressive local and county governments, and a strong work ethic make Phillipsburg an ideal location for commerce. The Phillipsburg business community offers a wide array of services, retail stores, restaurants, lodging, and more. For over a century the Majestic Theatre has hosted movies. The Huck Boyd Community Center hosts concerts, live entertainment and is a regional convention facility.

The Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge and the Kirwin Reservoir make the area around Phillipsburg famous for outdoor recreation. The Refuge lies in an area where the tall-grass prairies of the east meet the short-grass plains of the west. As a result of this merging of prairies and plains, grasses and wildlife common to both habitats are found on the Refuge. Kirwin was named by Sports Afield as one of “America's 50 Best Back Country Outposts.” Hunters can find and abundance of deer, turkey, pheasant, geese and duck. There are also several nearby fishing spots for those who prefer to reel in their catch.

Each summer, Phillipsburg swells with visitors during the annual Riverless Festival, a tongue-in-cheek way to come together as a community. Phillipsburg also hosts the Phillips County Fair in July and Kansas' Biggest Rodeo each August.

The Phillipsburg Unified School District has highly qualified teachers, friendly support staff and dedicated parents who have a vision for student success. Youth recreation offers football, soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, track, wrestling, swimming and much more. Available for membership are 4-H Clubs, Girl Scout, and Boy Scout organizations.

For those young at heart the Phillips County Senior Citizen Center and Westview Housing Authority offer many social activities. Each summer the Phillipsburg Men's Softball Association organizes a slow-pitch softball league and a women's volleyball league plays at the Community Building beginning in January of each year.

The mainstay of this community is the pride of its people – whether through long-time family legacies or newly relocated families – with the purpose of preserving the past and focusing on the future.
