Just as there are two sides to every story, there are two ways to take a photograph: horizontal or vertical. Due to the horizontal format of our gallery, the photos submitted for the Web site gallery need to be taken horizontally. This means taking the photo at a further distance, away from the subject matter taking into consideration the horizontal composition. Pictures taken too close will end up like the following:

Notice how part of each of the photos above have had to be partially eliminated? Photos taken vertically or photos with vertical objects in them will not work unless they are taken at a distance from the subject.
Another aspect to consider when taking a better photo is to check the background of the object you are photographing. Make sure the background frames the subject, not take away from it.
